Te'o is considered to be one of the top prospects in the 2009 recruiting class. As a sophomore, he was named to the Honolulu's Adverstiser's 2006 All-ILH first team defense, as well as a second team selection to the 2006 Honolulu Adverstiser and Honolulu Star Bulletin all-state teams. He carries a 3.7 GPA.
