Adding to the growing list of outstanding defensive backs picked up by Weis and his staff, Slaughter committed to the Irish on June 27. The ESPN All-American picked Notre Dame over such powers as LSU and Michigan.
Slaughter had 66 tackles and five interceptions as a junior, and he’s leading a fantastically tight defense again this fall. The Tigers, 12-0 after cruising to a 56-10 victory in their second-round playoff game against Northwest Whitfield on Nov. 23, have outscored opponents 443-46 on the year and posted seven shutouts, including the first five games of the season and the postseason opener. He carries a 3.0 GPA.
