A big signalcaller in the mold of Brady Quinn, Crist gives Charlie Weis yet another blue-chipper to work with behind the center. Dayne committed to the Irish during an April visit to South Bend with teammate Anthony McDonald, who also verballed on the trip.
Crist completed 128 of 224 passes (57.1 percent) this fall, picking up 2,121 yards and 16 touchdowns against just one interception. He was also a threat with his legs, gaining 450 yards on 76 carries (5.9 average) and adding four more TDs. He was injured in the Knights’ regular-season finale, suffering a concussion that kept him out of a first-round playoff loss. In his junior season, Crist passed for 1,200 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Crist is expected to be healthy in time to play in the Army All-American Bowl in January.
