Accompanying high school teammate Crist to South Bend for a mid-April visit, McDonald gave a verbal commitment while on campus (Crist followed suit just days later).
The Knights finished their season with an 8-3 mark, losing in the first round of the state playoffs. McDonald, who will join several other Irish verbals at the Army All-American Bowl, contributed more than 100 tackles to the team’s efforts. He’ll be traveling eastward with Crist for an official visit Dec. 7, the weekend of Notre Dame’s football banquet. In his junior season, McDonald recorded 101 tackles, 30 tackles for a loss, and 10 sacks. He currently holds a 3.4 GPA.
