One of the first players to jump on board in this class, Cwynar committed to the Irish on March 6 after his second junior day visit of the winter. The Army All-American, who is considered a perfect fit for the defensive end slot in a 3-4 setup, is planning to enroll in January (the only known early entry in this group thus far).
The two-time all-state selection notched 82 tackles (70 solo, 12 assists), 16 tackles for loss and 11 sacks for the Hurricanes, who finished 10-3 and reached the class 5A state semifinals. Cwynar kicked a 33-yard field goal in that game and finished 9 of 12 on PATs, filling in after Marian’s starting kicker left the team. In his junior year, Cwynar recorded 102 tackles and 17 sacks.
