After making a summer commitment to Nebraska, Gray re-opened his recruitment and took a visit to Notre Dame for the USC game and gave the Irish a verbal just days later. A first-teamer at the All-American Combine in San Antonio last January, he’ll return for the Army All-American Bowl this winter, one of 14 Notre Dame commits in the game.
Gray had a monster season for the Yellowjackets, rushing for 2,950 yards and 34 touchdowns, including a 305-yard effort in the state semifinal victory. Detroit Country Day (11-3) lost to Marine City, 21-7, in the state championship game Nov. 23. Gray rushed 31 times for 144 yards and a TD in defeat. In his junior season, Gray rushed for 1,252 yards and 19 touchdowns. He carries a 3.2 GPA.
