Sept. 5 – Nevada (5-3)
The Wolf Pack picked up a fifth consecutive win with a 31-21 victory over conference foe Hawaii to remain unbeaten (4-0) in WAC play. In a shootout that featured nearly 1,000 yards of offense, Nevada racked up 496 total yards on 184 yards passing and 312 yards from the nation’s No. 1 rushing attack. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick paced the Wolf Pack offense with 298 total yards with a pair of touchdowns through the air and on the ground.

Sept. 12 – Michigan (5-4)

The Wolverines lost a second straight game, and their fourth in last five, this time to Big Ten doormat Illinois, 38-13, which had previously been winless in conference play entering last weekend. Michigan’s defense yielded 500 yards to the Illini offense, including 377 yards on the ground. Freshman quarterback Tate Forcier was relatively efficient passing the football, completing 13 of 23 pass attempts for 257 yards, but he fumbled twice for the Wolverines, who turned the ball over three times in the loss.

Kaepernick rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two more in a Wolf Pack win.
Sept. 19 – Michigan State (4-5)
The Spartans failed to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Iowa in week eight, and dropped a second straight game in a 42-34 loss to Big Ten opponent Minnesota. Michigan State surrendered 505 yards of offense to the Gophers, including a career high 416 yards to quarterback Adam Weber, who completed 19 of 31 pass attempts with five touchdowns. The Spartans also turned the ball over three times, which led to a time of possession advantage of more than 12 minutes in Minnesota’s favor.

Sept. 26 – Purdue (3-6)

The Boilermakers were abruptly brought back to earth following a back-to-back wins in weeks seven and eight with a 37-0 drubbing at the hands of conference foe Wisconsin. The Badgers’ defense dominated the Purdue offense, holding the Boilermakers to just 141 total yards, 2 of 16 third down conversion attempts and eight first downs on the afternoon. Quarterback Joey Elliott had the worst start of his career, going 5 of 23 for 59 yards with an interception before being replaced late in the third quarter.

Oct. 3 – Washington (3-5)

The Huskies were off in week nine with a bye. They travel to UCLA on Nov. 7.

Oct. 17 – Southern California (6-2)
The Trojans endured the worst loss of the Pete Carroll era in a 47-20 defeat at Oregon. Previously the nation’s No. 16 total defense and No. 5 rushing defense, USC gave up 613 yards to the Ducks, including 391 yards on the ground. Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli torched the Trojans with 386 yards of offense on 222 passing yards and 164 rushing yards with two touchdowns. USC led just once at 3-0 with 8:32 to play in the first quarter, and pulled as close as 27-20 with 8:26 left in the third before getting outscored 20-0 down the stretch.

Oct. 31 – Boston College (6-3)

The Eagles bounced back from the loss to Notre Dame with a 31-10 victory over Central Michigan. Quarterback Dave Shinskie continued his solid play with 262 passing yards on 18 of 28 attempts with a touchdown. Montell Harris shook off a 38-yard performance against the Irish and rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Chippewas. Former walk-on kicker Steve Aponavicius became Boston College's all-time scoring leader with an 18-yard field goal and four extra points, giving him 267 total career points.

Nov. 7 – Navy (6-3)
The Midshipmen may have been caught looking ahead in a 27-24 loss at home to Temple, which snapped a five-game winning streak. A normally dominant Navy rushing attack was held well below its season average with just 227 yards on the ground, even getting outgained by the Owls who amassed 274 rushing yards. Backup Navy quarterback Kriss Proctor filled in for the injured Ricky Dobbs for a second week and managed a rushing touchdown, but he also threw a costly interception in the endzone in the second quarter.

Nov. 14 – Pitt (7-1)

The Panthers were off in week nine with a bye. They face Syracuse on Nov. 7.

Nov. 21 – UConn (4-4)
The Huskies dropped a second straight game and fell to 1-3 in the Big East following a 28-24 loss to Rutgers. UConn sophomore quarterback Cody Endres went down with a shoulder injury in the first quarter after completing just 4 of 9 pass attempts for 40 yards. He was replaced by former Irish quarterback Zach Frazer, who completed 21 of 46 attempts for 333 yards with a touchdown but three costly interceptions for the Huskies, who turned the ball over four times in the loss.

Nov. 28 – Stanford (5-3)
The Cardinal were off in week nine with a bye. They face Oregon on Nov. 7.
