Watt Commits To Notre Dame

Chris Watt had many offers on the table, which should be no surprise since he is rated as one of the finest pure offensive linemen in the nation. Watt figures to get his first look for the Irish at guard.

In the end of the process for Watt, the Irish simply offered too much for him to refuse their offer.

“There were so many things to like about Notre Dame. They just offered the best overall package from the obvious academic life to the football life. They are going to be a lot better thus year,” Watt said from his home.

Watt’s commit is huge on paper and it is huge in that it continues the serious momentum Charlie Weis and his staff and have been building recently. While the commit was not a surprise based on rumblings over the past few weeks, there is one aspect of it that differs from the rumor mill that is the Internet.

“I still have an offer on the table from Ohio State. I just chose Notre Dame because I liked them the best. I have nothing but respect for Ohio State and their coaching staff, but this had nothing to do with Ohio State and my standing with them. I still had a seat on the bus,” he said.

Watt is glad to have the recruiting process out of the way so that he might focus on his upcoming season, his last in high school. He will have one eye on the goings on in South Bend, however.

“Oh yeah, I will be following the Irish closely,” he concluded.

Watt will introduce himself to Notre Dame fans in person this Tuesday night when he joins The Show on Blue and Gold Radio at 7:00 PM.
