John Goodman is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound wide receiver out of Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, IN. He was formally offered a scholarship by the Irish coaching staff on February 24th and joined fellow Indiana native Braxston Cave as Notre Dame's second and third commitments of the 2008 campaign during the program's March 4th junior day.
Last season, he caught 40 passes for 815 yards and 10 touchdowns and contributed an additional four scores on special teams in the form of two kickoff and two punt returns. He is expected, though, to serve as his team's quarterback for the upcoming 2007 but will resume his role as a wide receiver once he arrives on campus in South Bend.
Goodman is a standout in several sports including basketball and track where he specialized in the 100-meter and 200-meter events as an individual plus the 4x100 and 4x400 relays this past spring. He has reported that he's been clocked at 10.83 in the 100 and a 22.2 in the 200.
