A new era was ushered into Notre Dame’s football program in 1997.
Bob Davie succeeded Lou Holtz as the head coach, the same year the old Notre Dame Stadium was rededicated with a facelift.
Unfortunately, historians would argue that the decade from 1997-2006 would rival 1954-63 as the worst 10-year stretch in the program’s annals.
