Jake Stoneburner is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound wide receiver and tight end prospect out of Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio - the same school that produced recent Irish stars Brady Quinn and Chinedum Ndukwe.
Stoneburner is a nightmare for defensive coordinators at the high school level because of his size and 4.53 speed in the forty. He has also posted a shuttle time of 4.35. His dominance over opposing linebackers and secondaries is evidenced by his 63 catches for 946 yards and 8 touchdowns last season.
As reported by Blue and Gold's Jason Sapp, Stoneburner was in attendance this past weekend for Notre Dame's Junior Day, and he was able to get an opportunity to get a feel for campus life in South Bend. However, this was not his first visit, as he was also in attendance last fall during the weekend of the Michigan game.
“I love that campus,” he told Kevin Delgado and BGI earlier this month. “I was at the Michigan game. The game didn’t turn out that well for Notre Dame, but I like the campus a lot, the whole atmosphere and the fan support.”
Stoneburner has not reported an Irish offer to this point, although Notre Dame has made the short-list of schools he is currently considering.
“I have offers from Iowa and Clemson. Right now, I’d have to say that my top schools are Iowa, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Michigan,” he said in his interview with Delgado. “Right now, I don’t think I’ll commit until after my senior season after I get a chance to take my official visits.”
