Irish Score Florida RB

Notre Dame has made it a priority to recruit players this year with more speed to add to the Irish roster. Not only have they done so on the defensive side of the football, but on the offensive side as well to create more of a threat out of the Irish backfield.

The coaching staff certainly found what they were looking for when Florida native Armando Allen became yet another recruiting battle won for Notre Dame as they were able to pull him from Gator country.

"For the next four years I will be completing my education and playing for Notre Dame," said Allen this morning. "I would say that when I took my visit is when I felt like it was where I really fit in."

Some weeks back Notre Dame’s chances looked less promising as rumblings started in Florida about how Allen had given a verbal commitment to the University of Florida.

Despite those rumors, Notre Dame remained confident in their chances and were able to cause Allen to have a “change of heart” after Coach Weis shared some important information to him in reference to his intentions to enroll early and how they’ve been granted.

Allen made a trip to Notre Dame for the Stanford game, and reportedly had a great time on his visit and was very impressed with what the Irish had to offer.

This is a great day for Notre Dame recruiting and another step in the right direction not only because of the talent and speed that Allen brings, but this one has to feel just that much sweeter for the Irish coaching staff with a victory over Coach Meyer and the Gators.
